Meditation - the experience of being yourself

Please RSVP for this event (616) 808-1110 text or email (no experience necessary)

How to Show Up, Friends.

Please be well hydrated and have any food at least 1 1/2 hours before arrival since we will begin the sitting with a brief breath-work practice.

It is best to practice breath-work with a mostly empty belly. Of course, be sure not to come hungry as that can highjack the belly brain during your meditation

This is a delicate balance :-)

You will not be strapped to your meditation cushion or chair for 3 hours. Changing position, a brief walk outdoors in silence, sipping your tea is invited as needed. However, those who wish to stay with the sitting are encouraged to do that.

We are training the body mind to stay with what is showing up exactly and completely, drawing no conclusions.

I am always surprised by the beauty, curiosity and creativity that infuses these longer sittings while with others on this path.

What to bring

-Water bottle

-Sweater or Sweatshirt (you might step outside to stretch your legs)

-Favorite meditation cushion or blanket if that is a thing

(We should have plenty)

Please arrive 4:45PM sharp to prepare your meditation space

Ashtanga Yoga

the Long Durational Awareness Practice

Cultivating A Deeply Rooted Spiritual Practice

Meets Once A Month for 5 Months Begins Wednesday, September 15,  5 - 8pm

This course is for those with a sincere wish to drop deeply into the body-mind with the endeavor to Harmonize the Central Nervous System, Refresh the Lungs, Free up the Fascia, Strengthen the Limbs, and Renew Buoyancy to the Spine with the endeavor to Purify the Subtle Energetic Pathways.

Ashtanga Yoga is all encompassing in that it includes physical, energetic, mental & spiritual elements.

Our time together will be abundant with valuable tools of awareness along with philosophy study that gives birth to this most beautiful Way of Yoga.

Month I - sun salutations, breathing principles, philosophy

Month 2 - standing postures, breathing principles, bandhas(internal method to direct energy), philosophy

Month 3 - standing postures, seated postures, breathing principles, bandhas, philosophy

Month 4 - seated postures, breathing principles, bandhas, philosophy

Month 5 - finishing the practice well & synthesizing for a balanced daily spiritual practice

This 5 months also includes 1:1 session if and when this is needed via Zoom or a phone call. You may also feel free to email with questions.

If you practice regularly with intension to slowly master what is given, by the end of this course you can have a strong home based Short Form Ashtanga Yoga Practice. Please know that this practice can be tailored to Any Body, Any Age, Any Ability.

Dive freely into fresh waters!

While this yoga practice builds as we go, every breathing-movement is, in and of itself, an opportunity to heal and free your body-mind from suffering.

This course is not an exercise program, although, if you practice often you will unleash your strength and flexibility.

Ashtanga Yoga is a spiritual practice meant to first, reveal the afflictions of the body-mind. It is in this revelation that we can begin to respond to life from a curious and sensitive foundation of spacious awareness.

The freedom from suffering comes slowly as awareness begins to infuse all aspects of mind. It is a practice in being what you are doing.

Being genuine.
